My husband and I just adopted a 2 year old Basset/German Shepherd mix named Fred, from the SPCA. This is my fist time owning a Basset and I could not be more happy! He is soo lovable! :D

I just started clicker training. Someone on another post suggested clickerlessons.com and I must say, that site has helped me tremendously.

I was wondering if anyone had any tips with clicker training that they have picked up over the years? What is the best way you have found to train your Basset to stop jumping? When Fred gets excited he likes to jump on people, whether they be standing or sitting. I do plan to get him enrolled in training through the SPCA but the next class does not start until March so I figured I'd try to get a head start on the process.

I would definitely consider his ears to be medium length. They are right in between a Bassets and German Shepherd's length.
I know that we got lucky the day we met him!

THanks Mikey T for the websites! They will be a BIG help!

This is me and Fred the day we met him at the SPCA! ... I'm not quite sure why his eyes decided to glow in this picture :p

Fred had a good day at the park this week!
