At the hunt yesterday, somebody left a doggie winter vest behind ----- I used Wench to model it and she was so embarassed that it took 3 of us to get it on her
Once I saw the pinkwhip, I knew it belonged to Pinkwhip and Belle the bunni-nator.

Bunnie-nator ??? more like Bunnie- whipped

Is that stuffed bunny actually attached to that vest?!

Yes it is !!!!!! Belle did not have to wear it during the hunt --- maybe the idea was to get the rabbits laughing so hard they couldn't run away

Here's a different picture ---- shows even the reins which apparently attach to the ears. I did not subject Wench to that indignity

 Now Dean don't try to fool us. We know you borrowed that vest and bunny so you could use Wench to deliver your Christmas presents this year. That pink whip should be used on you! Happy Holidays.

OMG!!! That's so funny- looks like I really missed something on Saturday!

We got back early Saturday A.M. from Ct. and I was too tired from the drive to go over to the Beagle Club-

What kind of turn out did you get?

I suppose the Bun-i-nator is just lucky I didn't pull out her fleece hoodie. I bought it in the children's department at Target and cut off the arms.

Or, perhaps Belle is just lucky she is in the "Pet" Hunting Basset category and not the "Slave" Hunting Basset category. Here are the 8 Points of Difference --- (Pinkwhip's Belle and Midge n Hazley's Hazley will represent the "Pet" Hunting Bassets. Dean's Muttley and T. Bishop's Squirt will represent the "Slave" Hunting Basset category):

1. Pet Hunting Bassets are clean and fresh - you can pet them without getting sludge on your hands. Slave Hunting Bassets are FILTHY, you have to wash your hands with degreaser after you pet them.

2. Pet Hunting Bassets hang out with their moms knowing they will get lots of hugs. Slave Hunting Bassets look for love anywhere they can get it.

3. Pet Hunting Bassets get a snack and share mom's lunch after a hard hunt. Slave Hunting Bassets get nothing - even if they win.

4. Pet Hunting Bassets get warm coats. Slave Hunting Bassets get warm coats too, but theirs are made (per above) out of dirt.

5. Pet Hunting Bassets sleep in a house. Slave Hunting Bassets sleep in prison.

6. Pet Hunting Bassets ride to the hunt in the back seat of the car sitting atop a comforter, fleece blanket and surrounded by their toys. Slave Hunting Bassets have to hitchhike to the hunt.

7. Pet Hunting Bassets get cleaned up right after the hunt. Slave Hunting Bassets are left to bleed to death in a corner.

8. Pet Hunting Bassets come in last and get kisses. Slave Hunting Bassets come in last and get sold.

Whoa, whoa!! Don't drag us into this classification! I'm sure Hazley would insist she is in the "Slave" Hunting category. She would prefer remaining "au natural" baths are for wusses, she doesn't own any clothing, once she figures out what's happening, she'll take lovin from anyone!

Anyway, we really had a great time! It was quite the learning experience for Hazley too. Thanks to her vocal teachers, Squirt and Belle, she actually opened on a rabbit this morning!!!! It wasn't loud, but we heard her! I'll post the pictures tonight.

Pinkwhip-That is a really nice looking jacket! I can see that is one of the Ruffwear ones. I am going to have to take another look at them since I can see how well it fits Dean's hound, who by the way is very cute. :)

Murray's mom--- the turnout was small, only 7 hounds running, but we had a good day.

Midge & Hazley --- enjoyed meeting you folks and hound, glad you had fun

Pinkwhip
Hunting bassets do not get shampooed everyday and get to run in the field often. the smell of bath oils and shampoo would scare the bunnies out of the county
What's wrong with looking for love from new people --- my bassets are perhaps abit too friendly, but you can''t say they are shy
Muttley won and got to finish off the left over hotdog. I thought eating chicken cordon bleu in the back seat was abit much. Hungry bassets run better anyway
Hunting bassets grow their own coats, so they don't have to take time to get undressed to go to the field
Slave bassets have insulated doghouses to sleep in ( old refrigerators)
Hunting bassets wear their battle scars with honor and pride

Which hound was it that decided to take off and run down to the swamp ?????? Some dogs have so few chances to get out and have fun, that they don't listen when you try to get them back to the clubhouse.

Wench is totally mortified about being put into that ridiculous looking vest --- she figures there is no reason for a vest since we aren't in Siberia -- and no hunting basset would ever think of allowing a bunny to take the reins and direct the show
She still won't speak to me.

We did have a good day and I'm glad Hazley learned something----- both she and Belle have a good bit of talent and should make great rabbit hounds

My boys get a bath every weekend when I run them in the swamp. I don't know how they get dirty again by the time we get back to the club house. :D Also after every run they get a protein bar from the pet hunting basset store. :p I would like to thank all of you who showed up I hope you had a good time and will be back next year

Belinda, why should i have to be shamed? i'm just trying to step up in the more competitive field trials that they have.Winning a class with ten dogs entered is fine( six in a class starting in Jan '08 for a full class),but win a class with 50 to 90 dogs entered, that's something to feel really excited about! might never happen to me but i'll never know until i try and since i have twice as many beagles than i do bassets,i'm going to give it a go. By the way the Xmas card that you sent was nice ;).I'm not a card sender myself, but one day i may suprise people and send some out myself one day.

Every once in a while I hit a thread on this board that is so funny I just keep coming back to it. This on one of them...it leaves me speechless. One of my friends keeps telling me that AKC events are too stuffy, and that other venues are more fun. If that vest is any indicator of what happens at hunt tests or meets or whatever this was, she must be right.
