After a few months of lurking this is my first post. My 16 week old basset puppy Betty has got a broken tooth. I just noticed it last night. It is her bottom canine (I think thats what its called, the long one). Should I take her to the vet or is it something that I should just leave alone until she loses it. So far I have not seen a decrease in appetite and she still chews on her chewies and stuff. I just don't want it to lead to something worse. Thanks for any advice!

I don't know the answer to this, but wonder if a call to your vet might put your mind at ease. Best wishes to you and Betty-

Presumably this is just a baby tooth so will be replaced anyway. We have always had dogs in our lives but I am on my first Basset and she is the only dog that I have been aware of her baby teeth falling out.I have a little collection of them. She was about 16 - 20 wks when she lost hers. Even if it was an adult tooth which is unlikely at her age she will be fine without it.
