Ester was doing very well, until she had a crisis last week. The vet felt the cancer had gone to her brain....and we put her down...we were with her and she had a peaceful passing. Two hours earlier she had a good dinner, and had actually run along the fence and woofed her happy woof when we went back in the house.

We are now Bassetless for the first time in 20 years. Ester was by far the most expensive and time consuming rescue we have ever had, but we don't regret sharing our lives with her for a moment. The joy she brought us was immense, and our house feels very still without her.

We are talking now about the next Basset...I don't know if it will be a show dog or a rescue, but we will know when it happens...

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts. We will have another Basset, just not sure when....life is just not complete without one.

So sorry for your loss. It's good that she was able to enjoy life right up to the end.
