so like i said before I'm new around here. heck I'm new to the world, at only 1-1/2. I guess I'm still growing and stuff but I got this embarassing problem and wondered if'n y'all could help a sweet southern belle like me's.

I puke a lot. I eat too fast. Then I mope around for a minute. I burp. Then **RRRRRRRRAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPHHHHHHHH**

Then I'm like HEY MORE FOOD! But they don't let me eat my second course. sheesh what IS it with these people. Then they turned my bowl upside down and said haha THAT'LL make her eat slow. It worked for a bit...UNTIL I, in my infinite wisdom, found that I can tump the durn thing, gobble up and barf again. Y'all got suggestions?

Incidentally, I drink water too fast too... I like to barf that up too. But I don't really redrink. It doesn't taste as interesting and it's more fun to watch the 'rents step in it in their sock feet. BWAAAAAHAHAHA

Anywho, they wanted me to come here and ask if anyone had any tricks to keep my food and water down.

Esther, I used to gobble my food down too and just like you be sick afterwards, until the human put a heavy wide rimmed bowl in my food bowl on top of my food and now I have to eat round it. Certainly takes me a lot longer now and I have stopped being sick. As for gobbling the water, I have never done that, but I'm thinking that maybe if the water was removed for 15mins or so after I've eaten then perhaps that would help.

I used to finish each meal in less than a minute! until I got this slow food bowl.... this is what I use now and it's great!! but, probably you can make your own, as in the other post-- that was clever..

lol aww...

bowser doesn't really eat or drink too fast, but he will do too much at once. He'll eat, then drink and drink and throw up.
I find that if i catch him after he eats, i can burp him, and if i hear him drinking i'll wait a bit then interrupt him to burp him, and that keeps him from barfing : )
our beagle daisy eats soooooo fast. I can't get her to stop no matter what, but i can slow her down by taking her food and scattering it across the kitchen or living room carpet. she has to make her way to each bit and that slows her down a LITTLE bit *lol*
I really suggest the burping though. Just like a baby! They also may make a slow oozing water dish kind of thing, and that would slow her down too.

We used the ball to slow Doppler's gulping when we first got him. Eventually he slowed down anyway. So we used it for Virga too but she's slowed down also. As for the water. I don't have any suggestions except to try and pick the water up for a bit. Or use a smaller bowl. Good luck!

When Maggie was a pup she would eat way too fast. I put a big rock in the middle of her bowl and it worked great.

Fergus is the same way, Esther. We've been putting a mixture of wet and dry food in his kong and freezing it. He gets 2 a day, plus a small serving of dry food. This helps him eat slower and makes eating a lot more fun!

We have a greyhound who gulps his food as well, we feed him out a bunt cake pan. The one with the tube going up the middle. This works the same as a slow dish, or ball. Also we burp him after every meal as well. He now comes and looks for it. He is like a big baby!

You can use the ball in the water dish as well as the food dish. Just make sure you get one that floats.

Our Layla snorkels in her water bucket. She will start out drinking and then for some reason we haven't quiet figured out she will submerge her entire snout (up to her eyes) and blow a few bubbles and then pull her head back out and let water run EVERYWHERE.

nu mamma got me a slow dish. that has helped i think.
problem is i still puke water. they take me outside in the front on this thing hooked to my neck. it pulls on my neck a little bit but they're saying sit and stay and all this weird business i've never heard before. but they keep giving little bites of treats so whatever. we came back in after 30 hours (edit--> she means minutes) and I drank and drank and then barfed twice. Maybe they'll come back with a floatie ball like someone said. hmmm...

Someone may have said this but she can re-eat her food,why waste good food.You could hand feed her to slow her down and give her ice cubes instead of a full water bowl or just give her a cup of water at a time wait a little while then she could have a little more.

Harriet eats her meals from this thing, it's slowed her down from 10 seconds to 10 minutes.
