Well, my mom and I thought that since today was so beautiful we'd take the hounds, Mocha & Beldin and her dog, Bella, out for a walk in the park around the dam. - Mom brought her digital camera ...

Here you can see all the dogs are rarin to go ...

Beldin in particular seemed eager to get going ...

C'mon, Grammy! Enough pictures ... lets GO!

((more to come))

Here's the First (Lower) Dam:

The Second (Upper) Dam

There's a huge figure 8 trail that goes around both dams... we only take the dogs around the first dam ... mostly for the sake of the bassets (and my mom).

It's a gorgeous walk ... especially on a warm spring day when everything is blooming and the air smells so fresh ...

This is one of the waterways that seperates the Upper and Lower Dams... you can't really tell from the picture but that's a pretty steep drop and it looks amazing with the water cascading down and the spray making little rainbows in the sunbeams.

And lastly...

On the trail back around and on the way home, Mocha was getting a little tired and decided to use the opportunity of my mother's "photo stops" to get a little rest:

This looks like a good spot for a rest ...

Carry me, mom?

On the way back we saw a blooming dogwood tree:

And that about sums up our spring walk ...

Thank you, Sandy :) It's been an aadjustment to be sure ... but "stuff's getting better every day" (Postman quote) *hehe* I certainly am lucky and truly blessed.

Thanks for sharing, you sure have a wonderful area to explore! :D

Beautiful pics, but your mom should turn off the date function...
Thanks! ... Mom says she leaves the date/time on purpose. It helps her sort her photos so she can catalogue them etc  I could probably crop that part out before posting next time though.

I live on Vancouver Island in BC Canada. It has to be one of the most naturally pretty places I've ever seen ...

I used to have two seperate leashes for the hounds, but they'd tend to pull me in opposite directions and I'd end up looking like a pretzel! They unfortunately haven't had much in the way of actual training yet (a situation I am working on remedying).

So on the advice of a friend of mine I picked up a leash "splitter" it's basically a section of leash divided by a metal loop in the middle part and with clips on both ends.

You clip the leash to the loop and the clips to the collars and both doggies end up on the same leash.

They actually pull a lot less on it for some reason ... it's long enough that they can get around each other without tangling themselves up ... and when they -do- pull they tend to pull more against each other than they do against me.
