That was Louie in the backyard against a back drop of the full moon last night...

He chased a Racoon up a tree and was hollering so loudly that the neighbors came out...

He was just doing his Basset thing!! I have never heard him this loud and frantic before!!

He wants to know if he gets a piece of the racoon roast tonight at supper?!!

It must be the season. This morning on NPR they had some Tuva throat singers from the outer steps of Mongolia. They were (to put it mildly) astonishing. But they put Francis right up the wall. He was aruuing like an insane dog and as much as I liked the show I had to turn it off because it was really agitating him.
Normally Fran is as quiet as a church mouse but this amazing music really got him in a lather.

I wish Cody howled! As much as I try to make him, he won't even attempt it. He looks at me like I'm nuts when I'm howling at him!

My first basset, Beauregard, was quite a howler. It didn't take anything to get him to do it. My second hound, JAMES, at least attempted, but all he could get out was this feeble little "ooooooo" sound while his beautiful little mouth made a perfect "O".
