I bought Twinkie a nice beef shank bone at the meat market today. Before I give it to her, should I cook it or give it raw? I thought I read something about cooking making the bones brittle, although we always cooked them for my old dog. Any suggestions? Thanks

Raw bones as you are right about cooked bones being brittle.

Thanks, Lynne. I just took most of the meat off the bone and took out the marrow (it seemed like it would be way too rich) and gave it to Twinkie. She carried it around for a while like she was looking for a place to hide it, but has now got down to the business of actually chewing it. Its her first one. I hope she likes it! Thanks for the info.
