It's been a wonderful summer weather lately in Norway, if +86f is what you like.
It's a bit much for us used to colder climate, and for furry bassets.
Several of us haven't been in our best form lately, but you just can't sit inside,
so we went orienteering Sunday morning. Once every season they have a so called
coffee check point, meaning we'll get free coffee and biscuits, and a cheap Norwegian
can't let that pass. They also had a local historian telling about the area...

The map with the check points, the coffee point is marked with a "K":

We started from a farm called "Østby":

Finally we reached the Østby pond, you can see the coffee serving on the other side:

The former slaves of Capella (the New Foundlander) joined us Sunday too:

We also met a young Bouvier des Flandres, he was put on place by Emma and wouldn't
come near us after that.....

Who else did we meet in the forest than my Grandchild Andreas with DIL,
he insisted on walking by himself, and even with two bassets we were faster than they....

And what's this? A dabbled, enormous dog with dreads and hairy legs?
Emma didn't liked her a bit....

What great pictures - especially of the pond! How long is orienteering season?

Beautiful pictures! Your grandson looks like he is loving the outdoors. So glad your back isn't keeping you confined to the indoors. Orienteering is wonderful way to spend time outdoors, and our now 30 year old son loved those orienteering outings when he was a Boy Scout.

Your pix are stunning as always. You always come across the most interesting breeds of dogs. On my travels here I'm likely to see a lab, a lab, a lab, a lab, and a lab mix. The pony was especially nice. It's been awhile since Capella went to the bridge. Have his (or her) parents not gotten another dog? They should at least check out the lineup outside the mall and see what they fancy.

The season will end in september,
but it's plenty of time to get all check points.

A lot of people here in the 50s and 60s don't replace their
dogs. When the kids are out too, they can act more freely.

The theory is maybe good, but I think you'll stay in better
shape and health if you have a dog, especially when older.
