Default In Or Out?

Now that the weather has gotten nice the bassets are back to enjoying their basset door to go in and out at will. After a couple of hours of constant in and out Sherlock got tired of using the door and decided to simply go to sleep in the doorway.

Once the weather is nice here, we leave the backdoor open so they can come and go. Also the patio door here. Just a word of caution - with my dark coated hounds, I was forever bringing them in as they'd lie in the full hot sun and when touching their coats, it was alarming how HOT they really were - other than my lemon /white boy who could lay out for hours without his coat feeling hot. My Whippet, a blue brindle, will stay out there and come in panting like mad. I'm always conscious of heat stroke, having seen 2 cases, one fatal. Not a nice way to go.
