Default orthetic information

hello to all
I have a 16 month old female with extremely turned out front legs,
Is there any known therapy or corrective braces to resolve her issue?

Honestly, most of the time I would leave it alone.

Some vets can, and do, get out the knife with these conditions, usually to good effect, but as said, it's probably best left alone to be honest. There is the possibility of arthritis setting in later on however so you might be advised to consult with a specialist, probably on referral.

Therapy or corrective braces most probably won't work - this is usually (and I'm not a vet or know your bitch) caused by premature closure of the growth plates, meaning often the ulna stops growing when the radius carries on, causing the turn out.

the only reason to do surgery is if it is significantly impacting the mobility of the dog or cause a lot of pain,

east/west facing feet rarely cause these issue, not to be confused with knuckling over which can cause problems and be some what corrected with a brace. Knuckling over is an excessive lacticity in the corpus {wrist} tendons and ligaments,

My experience is the more east west the feet the faster the dog is in agility. Keeping in mind personal bias because I ran her the Best agility basset there ever was and, and unequivocally the best basset ever in USDAA agility once earning a top 10 spot all breed 2005 in 12" Performance snooker. had feet that were about as east west as you can get, And unlike a lot of basset they did not face forward when she ran
