Thank you. I just got home from work and found out my dog has cherry eye.
The vet said the eye drops she gave me would not work, but try them for one week. Nice.
then we can try to push the cherry eye back in, but that would not work. Then the nurse and some other guy said to cut them out, the vet said that would lead to problems done the road. I love this dog so much, I am so hurt by this info.

The dog is 9 months old, why is this happening?

Sad

One of my Bassets had a cherry eye a few years ago but my vet did not give drops as I'm sure drops are totally useless for a cherry eye. She had an operation to have the cherry eye 'pushed back inside' and stitched back in (somehow) and has had no problems since... if this helps you.

CHERRY EYE is a prolaps of the gland if it is remove it can lead to dry eye and complications from it it is ususally tacked back in place with a stich but there is a fairly high failure rate but it can be tacked again

Prolapsed Gland of the Third Eyelid Cherry Eye

I have had the surgery done very sucessfully in who could of quessed by the breed perpoderance statistics in a couple of beagles.
