Default Conversion to new software

Hi everyone,

Firstly, happy new year to all of you. Hope you had a safe and enjoyable holidays.

I wanted to let you know that in the next few weeks, we will be converting the current forum software from IPB (Invision Power Board) to VBulletin. The main reason for doing this is to improve security on the site but also, VB offers much more potential in terms of features, support and on-going development. I would venture to say that a large majority of internet forum communities use VBulletin now.

We will do everything we can to keep the look of the site as similar to the current layout (in terms of color schemes) but it will look a little different -- obviously because it's two different software platforms.

We will transfer all the content from the current platform to the new one but with all conversions of this magnitude, there are bound to be a few hiccups here and there. Our team will do it's best to minimize this but if there are some, please be patient while we fix it. We will fix it.

I will keep everyone posted as we go along and if you would like to help with any testing of the new software, please let me know so I can set you up with a login and password once the test environment is up.

Thanks and have a great 2010!!!

Yung

If anyone would like to take the new software out for a test drive, please use this link:

http://vbulletin.basset.net

Username: basset
Password: hound9214

The above username and password is generic for everyone testing the site. You will be prompted to enter this even before being able to see the site. Now after that, you can use your normal login information (the login box is at the top right corner).

I started a thread in there already to test some of the functions to make sure they work.

Hi everyone,

Looks like we will be launching the converted site on Tuesday January 18 (tomorrow). If the site goes down for maintenance, you will know why. I've attached an image of what we want the main site to look like. Thoughts?

I agree - even though the web address is basset.net, I also think of this site as Cyberhound.

And this comment links to the recent post with a poll. Though the majority of bassets are tri-color, there are lemons and reds that deserve a few pictures up there!

How is the "gallery" going to work? Are we going to be able to upload pictures to it?

Mahna,

Would you be able to email me pictures of lemons and reds? I can send them to our art team to incorporate into the banner.

Also, the gallery should be working fine. Are you having issues uploading pics?

I didn't have issues with the gallery. We've just never had a gallery on the site that we could upload pictures to so I was wondering how it was going to work, how much space we had to upload pics, etc.
