Good for you!! When I was active with Tri-State Basset Rescue I fostered about 40 Bassets over a period of ~10 yrs. There were a couple I would've liked to keep, and only one I did. That's my Molly who is now 7. You have the right attitude. If you keep Darla the chances of your being able to foster more Bassets diminishes. There are so few people willing to foster and it's a shame. It's fun seeing all the different personalities, and my dogs always loved the temporary company. Good luck and have fun, Belinda.

Where on eastern Long Island? It's getting COLD....brrrr! I'd be fostering still, but I've had major canine medical problems with my own dogs over the last 4 years (glaucoma, elbow dysplasia and herniated discs). $15,000 in vet specialists leaves little $ for fosters. And again, good for you. Belinda.

We're on our fourth foster!! The first, Rochester, is our "foster failure". He found his forever home when he walked in our door. It only took me a month to agree with my hubby that Rochester was staying. It's hard to let them go. Being a part of choosing their forever home helps though. And knowing there's another one out there that needs you keeps me doing it.
Good luck with your foster!

It took me less than 24 hrs. to know Molly was "home". I'm not a very religous person, but I firmly believe that Molly is my gift, from whatever powers there may be, for all the good I've done in the Basset world. And I miss fostering. Take care, Belinda.
