I adopted gabby at 15 and we had her for 2 years. We adored her! Just remember to expect her to have rules and structure, they seem to feel more secure that way. keep her ears very clean and get a baseline blood panel. GOOD FOR YOU!!!

You will love her and good for you for giving a senior a chance. As Kirska said the bonding thing well they certainly will. I brought home Maddie in May I think, she did get into it with all my other dogs the first weekend but after that she just gave it up. She has never had an accident in the house, but I have a dog door in the basement through the garage. And she learned that very fast.
She has gotten very attached to me and will trail me all over the house. She is getting to protective over the house because she bit the Scwhan man the other day so I am going to have to work on that. She is a little wobbly in the back end but she goes up and down the stairs and gallops along on our walks. She's a tough old girl and my husband and I don't know how those people could have given her up. As fare as I'm concerned we have her the best years of her life. She has so much personality as do all bassets, well hounds really she makes us laugh all the time. Good luck and keep us posted. |

I want to thank you for wanting to adopt an older basset.
![]() My husband and I weren't looking for an older basset when we were adopting, but Droopy found us. Most people are looking for the adorable, sweet puppy that they can cuddle with, but I prefer the ones I can teach how to trust again.
