Default Okay, is this my girls' issue then?

I have never seen my rescue dog Poochie be aggressive with another dog after the roles were established (one fight over a bone with my now-deceased Great Dane, of course the Dane won), although Poochie tends to growl and snarl when in play, it always looked to be play.

She shows no signs of getting used to the Basset puppy, also a female. Poochie is spayed. She is a boxer mix. We have tried to rehome her since we took her in as Boxers are not our style. She will not play with Thelma Lou and walks away whenever Thelma approaches. Thelma recently got bite marks on one ear. I'm assuming they were from Poochie. Thelma Lou is annoying as a puppy can be, but should I worry that this will escalate when Thelma gets older? She will be spayed when she is old enough.

Aggression or appropriate response to rudeness? Far too many dogs suffer because handlers & trainers don't know the difference between the two.

Just a thought because my cats did this (and I know they can be different than dogs) but maybe it was because she smelled different after coming home from the vet's office. My cats would fight, growl and hiss at Nibs when I brought him home after being neutered. At that point in their lives they had lived together for almost a year. So perhaps Baby is taking issue with the vet smells on Hope. It my cats about a week to get back to normal. I hope things get back to normal for you soon. You're a wonderful soul for taking care of these hounds!

Well I wanted to jump back on here and let all know that I lost the battle in my home with my two babies. After I had getten bit several times, my husband and my 9 year old also had blood drawn on them.,

As hard of a decision as it was, Hope had to be rehomed. The orginization that helped me with her initial vet bill was able to find her a home and get her adopted out. I am still really upset about it all, especially since I have not had any real updated on her or how she is doing. Being that many people here in OK and in the US followed Hopes story and her progress through craigslist and facebook (she had her own page) it has been even harder trying to explain to some that regardless of how much I loved my sweet Hope, I had to look out for the saftey and wellfare of my family.

Thanks to all that tried to help
