Hi All.

My 13 yr old Oliver was diagnosed with Lymphoma late Feb. From there everything happened so fast. On March 5, I had to make the decision every pet owner dreads...

I miss him greatly.

I can see why you miss him so. He looks like he had a lot of character. Thank you for sharing his very cute face!

What a handsome fella! I know how you feel. My Sadie was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma in late May last year & I had her sent to the Bridge June 9th. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do. It's been 10 months & still, every day is full of thoughts of her. Thinking of you...

Every pet owner dreads that decision, but we all know it is for the best... every day is filled with memories, but each day will get better...

I'm so sorry. We lost our Daisy Mae 6 weeks ago. She had severe degenerative disc disease and we couldn't keep her comfortable any more. It was the hardest thing we've ever done, but I know it was the best we could do for her. Oliver was beautiful, you must miss him terribly.

So sorry to hear this sad news. You did your very best for him and made the right decision: none of us want our Hounds to suffer. He had a long and happy life.

Your boy sure is handsome. That is the hardest decision to make but one you make out of love. When I lost my Maggie Mae, I felt like someone stabbed me in the heart. Time does help. I will never get over losing her, I just learned to live without her. Someday you will be reunited with your handsome boy.

I'm so sorry about your beautiful boy, Oliver. We have been though that same terrible decision. Our beloved Bubba, seven years old, was diagnosed with Lymphoma on Dec. 10, 2005, and we held him in our arms in the vet's office as he went to the Rainbow Bridge on Dec. 20, 2005. Oliver will always remain in your heart and thoughts, as Bubba does in ours.
I know that time will ease your saddness, and those wonderful memories of Oliver will warm your heart.

I don't know if you are familiar with the Rainbow Bridge or not, but I like to think of Bubba being there playing with all of his friends.

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

What a handsome hound! I love the pic playing with the bone.

I'm right there with ya.... we lost 5 year old José to cancer just 3 1/2 weeks ago. We only had a week's warning where he was sick, & only one day after we found out it was cancer, we had to say goodbye.

Nestor, have you "cleaned up" the house yet? We haven't - his toybox is still there, full of half-eaten stinky dried-drool stuffed toys! His bench is still by the window, I still look when I come up the driveway to see if he is watching for me.

I have a shrine to José with his ashes, and cards we've received and some pictures. It helps in a way to know that others understand how hard this is. This board helps a lot too - both with a place to vent, and a place to go look at everyone's adorable basset hounds, and hear about their shenanigans.
