Scary! I don't think that is a good place to fish or swim.

GEEZ!!!!!!! Unbelievable : Never again will I complain about the odd fox in the back garden.

I've heard it said 'after a while you can get used to anything' but that is stretching it a bit.

Do they never come up on to that path? or get into people's back gardens?

I gather that they are a protected species.

Thanks, that was a real eye opener.

They are protected. It is taken very seriously. They have been seen up on the grassy hill, but not often. They like to sunbathe and stay down at the waters edge. Some people ignore the signs and wade in the water up to their calves fishing Most people stand down near the edge when they fish but NO THANK YOU for me!! I'll pass. Our street is across the street from the walk. Our house is 3 houses up the block so Mr. Gator would have quite a distance to reach us. Also our backyard doesn't face water, just another neighbor!!

Yikes! That would make me nervous! I think we watch way too much TV and have a fear of being eaten alive (though that is probably one of the most unlikely ways to go). We Northerners have this unfounded idea that all bodies of water in the south are inhabited bygiant man-eating alligators. The most dangerous reptiles we have to worry about around here are rat snakes. They are aggressive but harmless. It's rumored that there are rattlesnakes here, too, but the last confirmed sighting of a rattlesnake in our town was in the late forties.

I hear that you also have mosquitos the size of small birds n Florida...

hehe.

I know I would have to be awfully drunk to want to 'molest' an alligator.
