We attended the "All Fools Parade" and Basset Bash in Woodinville, WA this weekend. Chloe was NOT amused. For the first year, the loud noises really bothered her and she ended up shaking throughout the whole parade. (Of course, the pirate ship had to fire off a "cannonball" right in front of us!)
We did not walk in the parade along with all of the other Bassets this year as we wanted to enjoy the entire parade. (Two children under the age of 7 and one aged Basset -- not the easiest parade group!) Here a few pictures of the day. One shows Chloe with her new "friend". She was not amused. I think she thought there was something seriously wrong with the other Basset and she did NOT want to be anywhere near it! The other picture shows one of the riders in the parade showing off his "Bassetude"! The weather was icky but we still had fun. (Well, the humans had fun. Chloe felt better after a bite of hot dog. I guess at 11.5, she has earned the right to stay home from now on.) Colleen ![]()

That statue looks beautiful! And I like the ears on the biker (I wonder if I could get my husband to wear some when we do the Poker-run this year... )

We were in SAV all weekend and Ernest was at the AOCB having a blast.
He has experienced the Pride parade as a tiny puppy and we had to move him during the motorcycles. I don't think either of us (myself or him) would have appreciated the seafair pirates. I hope to take him next year or at least meet chloe at a local basset meet up! lala and ernest

What a fun day. Sure wish we had something like that around here.

Well, we will have to meet elsewhere besides the parade as Chloe has made it very clear that she does NOT want to go back there again! (I could just bring her to the "bash" part.) We do make it to Marymoor quite a bit in the summer. Perhaps there sometime? Although, with their age difference, I'm not sure that Ernest will be all that impressed with Chloe -- she moves pretty slowly these days! |

I love the statue! Your story reminds me of Ruby once being scared to death of the two large stone german shephards which stood at attention at the entrace of a vet's office we took her to in FL. She was soooo scared that we never went back; she wouldn't budge close enough to the door.
Sounds like a fun day for you. Janice

I have a stuffed Clifford (the big red dog) toy that I won at a fair - it is approximately the same size as Maggie. She is completely freaked out by it and hides so I have to put it up on a shelf in the closet. Funny for dogs that are such scenthounds that statues and toys freak them out!

My parents basset flipped out when my parents got a statue of a elephant and a bulldog to put on their frontsteps. (I go to Mississippi State University and my sister goes to school in alabama)
They had 2 lion statues before they got the bulldog and elephant, and he wasn't scared of those. |
