My family just adopted a 1 - 2 year old female. The day we brought her home she ate a mix of dry food and wet food, per the humane society. Since then she has eaten nearly no food at all. The vet told us to give her some rice and meat (chicken, turkey, or beef). I was wondering if any one has any experience with a preferred brand.

We had a 1/2 black lab 1/2 golden for 14 years. This is our first basset. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

If you just got her, she is probably stressed and excited from the move. It may be a few days before her appetite returns. As long as you are giving her a good quality food, I'd stick with it for now, rather than encouraging her to be picky by catering to her appetite.

Thank you for your help. We are going to follow our vet's recommendations.
