Hi everyone....I haven't posted for a good long while but as you may have seen, I lurk quite often. I have debated about this for quite some time now but thought some of you might want to know that I have been diagnosed with Stage 1 lung cancer. It has come as quite a shock (altho I was a smoker so I shouldn't have been too shocked) and we are in the middle of trying to determine treatment. I guess my message to everyone is one that my father gave to me when he was dying of emphesyma (sp?)......if you smoke - please try to quit (BTW, the new drug Chantrix is wonderful) and if you don't smoke.......please, please, please don't start.

Lynn, I am so sorry to hear this. It does sound like it's been caught early, which is good, I think? Please keep us posted on what's going on.

And yes, I'm an ex-smoker. Everyone should quit, if only because you smell so much better, but more importantly because it *does* cause such serious illness, despite all those studies funded by the tobacco companies which say otherwise.

Lynne,

I'm glad you've caught it so early. My father just recently had surgery following chemo/rad for stage 3A and is doing very well. (He was exposed to two atomic blasts while in the navy on top of smoking for 15 years.)

Good luck with your treatment. I'm sure Huck will be a big help while you are recovering.

So sorry to hear this, Lynne. I also have a friend who was successfully treated for this a couple of years ago and she is now cancer free. Medical science can do such wonderful things. Our thoughts are with you......drool from Sally

I'm really so sorry to hear this Lynne. I've been doing a lot of research on lung cancer recently, and being a stage 1, I believe you will be just fine.

Just this past week my father was diagnosed with Stage 3A. He had his right middle lobe removed a little over a week ago and is having part of his thyroid removed tomorrow. I have never been so scared in my life. He only smoked off and on over a 5 year period and hasn't smoked at all in 40 years.

I'm so glad you caught yours early. I will include you and bcc11's father in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Lynne. My grandfather was diagnosed with Lung cancer years ago. It was in really bad stage, but he quite smoking, got a really hard, strong attitude, and trained his brain to have positive thoughts(it is hard to do at first), and he was cancer free for the rest of his life. When he did pass 16 years later, it was from something else, totally unrelated.
I would listen to the Dr's advice and treatment procedures, plus you may want to take up some self cleansing procedures, and maybe some other means of treatment on top of the cancer society's treatment. I have heard chinese medicine, natural rememdies etc.... gives good results.......Of course under a professionals advisement and supervision.
Take care, and remember to try very very hard to keep your chin up...........you can beat this!!!

In our prayers
Barb.

Hi Lynne,
It sounds like they caught it early. Good. And, I wish you a speedy recovery. I'm sure having Huck around will help in both the long and short run.
