Thumbs up

Hi Everyone,

Its great to be back.

Molly has grown a lot since i first posted her here after a month after we had picked her up.

She is 2 in August, i look at her as small, but everyone cant believe how big she is, i was interested if anyone can let me know at what age do Bassets stop growing?

Its great to be back online again.

Look forward to your answer

Mollys Mum Carol :P

A warm welcome back I remember Molly, would be good to see a pic of her now.

As for the growing....Toby was 18months when I got him and was very long and very skinny. I don't think he's grown any more but he fattened out a bit at between 3&4 years I think. He weighs about 50pounds but, imo, he is light boned. Know another basset who is smaller and thinner than him but actually weighs more as she is heavier boned.

As for you thinking her small, I think it is all relative, as I think Toby is big because I also have a little westie so he is massive in comparison, but, at the park when he is chasing other dogs I often hear people say "look at that wee basset run" and compared to the other he does look small.

When I got Lightning, he was so skinny! Not unhealthy, just a puppy who was growing faster than he could eat. He was a very unenthusiastic eater anyway, and I thought at that time he would always be a skinny dog. Then I got Stomps, and Lightning suddenly started inhaling his food. I couldn't believe that I was now having a problem keeping his weight down. It took him until about his fourth year to really fill out. He's in really good shape and weighs about 63 pounds now, and he's a lighter-boned basset. So keep an eye on Molly--she's not done yet!

Its great that we all have each others help from time to time to put our minds to rest.

I will post a picture soon to let you see how Molly has grown.
