Dozer-Digger

There has always been a debate on here about letting your hounds sleep with you, but this may be taking it too far.

I woke up this morning, and heard a clang as one of my hounds was jumping into bed. I looked down and saw Digger was eating leftovers from last night out of his bowl. I still don't know how he can carry his bowl without spilling anything, especially while jumping into bed.

When I got out of bed to grab the camera, Dozer was cleaning up the rest.

Sorry, what was that about "leftovers"? I'm not familiar with that term used in conjunction with "Basset Hounds". What leftovers? You have leftovers? My three Hoover Hounds don't ever leave even a whiff in their bowls! As a matter of fact, if there is a smell left in any of the bowls, Button licks that clean, too! Cute pic!

Dozer-Digger

I feed them twice a day, but some times they skip meals (on their own) and can have anywhere between a half bowl to both bowls full of food. I adjust the amount at each meal, depending on how much is left.
I don't have trouble with over eaters, and they have food out almost all the time.

We tried that, too, but Button will literally eat until he is sick! Don't know why, he was being "free fed" when we got him and was already overweight. Since he's a bit rotund anyway, I'm just concerned that he would get as overweight as his mother was. (She looked like a sow! bless her heart). Elmer isn't all that crazy about overeating, and would leave some food, but I think he's afraid that one of the others will eat his if he leaves some. It keeps things easy when they all eat at the same time, though. Captain is a growing boy, and loves to finish all his food. They get plenty of food, twice daily, with Hills Science Diet Light Treats during the day, I just think it's a three dog thing to finish all their food! I'm glad they don't carry theirs around, since I add a little warm water to give that "gravy" taste. Can you imagine? I'd never stop mopping!

Dozer and Digger are so handsome--I just love their videos! What energy!

That is certainly taking it to the next level! I was at a rescue meeting a few years ago, and one of the Bassets of the house serfed a bowl of nuts off of the dining room table. She brought the bowl all the way around the dining table and didn't spill one!
