CLANG!!! (bell)...AND THEY"RE OFF!!! ....and it's MOOSE first out of the gate...only to stop suddenly as he catches a scent on the gate...he's almost rear-ended by HUCK, who catches the same scent...that puts BO in the lead by a mile...well, a foot, anyway...there's a tasty bit of something downwind, and he intends to find it..but what's this?...He's soon overtaken by EMMA...who's not about to let him get to it first...Meanwhile, back at the gate...here comes another hound...is it?..yes it is...it's DORIS!...and she appears to be...

....as Digger runs past the crowd, he jumps the outside rail, and is now trying to greet everyone at the track. Meanwhile, Dozer jumps the inside rail to check for real rabbits.
Both are disqualified for leaving the track.

.....And Ruby runs back to mommy waggling her butt but scared of the commotion. She gets all the attention from the two-leggers and as she shows off her "moooo" and her "gobble". She gets more treats than ALL of the other bassets while she supervises the action.......

José is off, sprinting like a champ.... but wait, he only sprinted so he could catch up to another basset..... OH NO!! José - Get away from him!!!
José, I'm afraid, is disqualified for "lewd behavior" on the track!

Trouble on the track! Apparently a hot dog vendor, too close to the track, has caused Sabian and Pearl to skid to a halt. What a pile up... I'm not sure how many "top dogs" are involved but we have confirmation that none of the hot dogs survived.

Moe lazily watched the race from the sidelines with only one disinterested eye open. That is, until the unfortunate incident with the hot dog vendor. (Those of you with small children may want to leave now, before things get ugly) Suddenly he was off like a shot!! Hot Dogs were everywhere, and so were Bassets as they each struggled to gobble up the most of the poor vendor's wares... oh, the CARNAGE!!!! It was NOT a pretty sight.
