Hello all

I am going to be bring home my first dog every for Christmas and it is going to be a Basset. My friend says that a formun will be the place to get all the info. I have read a thousand books on the breed and a thousand and one of training puppies and I still don't feel prepared for this whole things. Any help, advise or otherwise that you can suggest will be greatly appreciated it. I just want to make sure I do a good job at being a new mom.

Thanks

A warm welcome!

Read the stuff you find on the CyberHound's website,
read old topics in this board, and ask about what you
can't find answers for.

It's like preparing for being a parent,
you don't think it will go well - but it normally does! :P

Good luck!

Welcome! A basset puppy has to be the best Christmas present you could get!

I don't have a lot of advice on puppies but will echo what Steinar said about reading posts and asking questions.

And posting pics when the time is right!

Congratulations - may you have many wonderful years together.

I agree, just keep reading and also talk to anyone you may know who has a Basset. Once you have your new pup, things may pop up that you are un-prepared for. This is a good place to come to for help - there are many experienced people here - breeders, show-people, and multiple dog owners, as well as people like me who only own one Basset but who may have experience with unique issues. Best wishes to you and your new puppy!
