Default Best SUV ramps for bassets

So i just ended up buying a new SUV and i'm afraid that Jackson won't be able to make the jump from Sedan to SUV that well. Ok so i know that 30" tailgate height is going to be a problem.

With the old car he usually puts his front paws up on the seat and i do the rest. With the new SUV he just looks up at the tailgate. After two days of this, I decided to buy him a doggie ramp.

i was hoping that someone could give me a little advise on what would be the best ramp for a basset (or two) to climb into a 4runner.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of options. There's a large, white heavy plastic one that is advertised in most dog catalogs. We had one, and had to return it because our dogs have to come in the back doors of our SUV, because it doesn't have a tailgate, and it was too wide. It's heavy, but probably would work just fine if you use it at home, and don't take it to shows and the like.

My opinion is that you buy the safest vehicle you can get for your family with the options you want and need.

Do arm and back exercises like me and learn to pick up your basset to get in and out of the vehicle. Ruby won't do ramps so that was never an option for us.

Plus it's not good for a basset to jump in and out of anything; bad for their joints and so on.

I just bought the Telescoping Pet Ramp II from www.americas-pet-store.com. After I get it and try it out I'll let you know how I like it (or better yet, how the boys like it). They had a decent selection, so check out that site.

For what its worth, I was lifting Henry into my SUV and thinking of getting a ramp. Then one day, without any prompting, he looked at me as though he was tired of being treated like a puppy, and jumped onto the floor in the back seat. He's been doing it ever since, and I've never had to lift him again.

As I can see it, it's two possibilities:
[list]1. Make alterations to your house.
2. Make alterations to the SUV.[list]

House:

Here I suggest a smaller modification of the frontarea,
just attach a drawbridge for the bassets:

If you rather prefer to alter the SUV, this is the way to do it:
