Today we popped into a new pet store in the neighborhood. I found her food for $7 cheaper & PB found a bulk treat bin on the ground... right at snout level. Before I realized anything she had snagged a bone & was snacking away.

I tried to explain to the lil' felon it was stealing but she just kept on munching away & waggin' her tail.

Seriously... who puts an open treat bin on the ground?!! PB says geniuses!

LOL! what is a basset shoplifter called? Thank heavens it wasn't Barney...he would have gome into his "resource guarding mode" and cleared out the store with his
Cujo impersonation.

I had a basset puppy disappear for a week. I put a notice in the school paper, and a guy called and said he found my dog. He was in the corner 7-11 and eating the cookies on the lower shelves. I went and got him quick. He didn't even charge me for the cookies because he was too cute.

Houndmomma had a jail bird on her hands awhile ago.Page and Mabel went at it and Page tore Mabels ear.Jen had it sewn up and a few days later a letter came saying she had to confine Page to the home for 10 days because she bit another dog(Mabel).So Page doesn't go for chewing bones or stealing cookies(her mom wishes she would)no, she has to rip her sister's ear.We thought Jen might need to wear a leg cuff on her when she could finally take her out

I agree crimes of opportunity, we certainly can't blame a puppy for dining at the free cookie buffet neither!

Methinks the treat bin placement must be intentional...they know when they find something good and they turn "the eyes", we can't say no!

Any store that leaves treats at snout level must be meaning for them to be free samples!! Poor baby! Bassets don't look good in prison stripes!

Winston was busted at Petsmart for something similar last year. He just got probation.

Seriously, why are they at dog level??
