So Noba has been drinking water non stop and of course, that means peeing a lot. Which I was told by his vet would be a side effect of the prednisone. I'm fine with that. BUt... Holy cow, his appetite is insane!!!! I barely have time to put his food in his bowl before its gone. He stole carrots and sweet potatoes off my plate...and he never does that...lol. He's also been chewing on a bone that he hasn't touched in a while. I'm not overfeeding him at all, but to hear him tell it, I'm starving him. LOL.

Bubbad, his vet seems to believe he pulled a muscle in his back. Hes on 10 days of prednisone, tramadol and methylcarbomal.... No play, running or jumping for 10 days and short light walks starting on Monday if he seems to be better.

oh i believe it! happens to people too. not surprised he is voraciously hungry. but have to be careful because the increase in appetite in addition to prednisone itself makes it very easy for wt gain. keep an eye on that boy and what he tries to eat!

I would ask if he really needs to be on the pred ,yes it may help with inflamation, but he is on other meds for pain and if he is being restrained from activities there should not be much inflamation. Pred can cause may more problems which is unlikely if he is only going to be on it a short time, still I won't use it at all for anything there are other good meds out there that do not present the same problems.

Herzo, I went to store and got him a few raw soup bones to chew on. It's been working wonders. Bubbad, he has a follow up tomorrow and I'll def ask about the necessity for pred. Thanks!!!

Poor guy, I sympathize I have been on prednisone for about a year, makes you crazy. Pred and tramadol are both part of my daily cocktail actually, we could start a support group lol

Good I'm glad it's helping the poor fella. Hopefully he won't be on them for too much longer.
I'd ask like bubbad said to make sure he needs to be on it. I hate that stuff but it is sometimes necessary. |
