Simone is tricolor, the black fur is coarse but the areas with white and brown fur are soft, velvety.

Default Soft fur

Thanks for all the very interesting responses! Cooper is only young at 4 months, his coat isn't long but it's very silky and has a sheen to it, he's also a crazy shedder! I'm just curious to see if this will last, he's the best heated blanket ever :P

He was about 9 months, far to early but thought at the time it would save him another GA. He is now 8, has always remained very much a (only I can say this 'a silly little') puppy, his coat is soft, thick & fluffy, & have always been advised that it's due to neutering far too early.
I'd suggest there is something in this although the two I had to have done were older a the time. However, their coats (as well as them!!) did go 'soft'.

emmas coat isnt soft to me and definitely not puppy soft but id say her coat is very smooth. which to most folks who have dogs with coarser hair feels soft. i know i usually think the same thing when im petting a greyhound at the dog park because of their fine smooth coat.

Moses and Clementine have very different coats. Moses has short, smooth "slick" hair while Clemmie's fur is thick and coarse. Both have velvet soft ears, of course! I always think I'd love a blanket that felt like Basset ears
