Beau went to the bridge this evening. Although the last blog post/forum post was optimistic, Beau had been ailing for some time. We're guess that he developed some form of cancer. Over the past couple months, his energy levels had been decreasing along with his appetite. Over the past couple days Beau made it pretty clear that his time was coming soon. We spent today doing all of his favorite activities even though he was too tired to truly enjoy them. He went peacefully surrounded by his family and vet staff who loved him. I know that many people think he was lucky to have found us but I think it was more that we were lucky to have him in our lives. We will miss him greatly. Run free sweet boy! We will see you again someday.

I am so sorry to hear of Beau's passing. I always tear up when I hear one of us have lost a beloved family member. Just know in your heart that he his having the time of his life over the bridge romping and playing with all of our babies that have gone before him.

I remember following Beaus journey to you, his new family. He had a wonderful life and I know how difficult it is to lose him. God bless and comfort Beau and his forever family.

We are sad to hear of Sir Beau's passing. 'I hope I will grow old in such style one day' says Worm. We will miss him here on the forum and his blog posts. We are thinking of you and Mr. Fury and your whole clan. I bet they will be missing him too.

Our hearts are warmed when we think about how he traveled halfway cross the country and how u took him in to be part of your family. You have done a wonderful thing for him.

Probably not everyone here knows, but Beau was probably loved by an elderly man who then passed away. None of his family members wanted Beau and asked some questions here on the forum. As a result of All this, the Furies offered to take him in. I bet his previous owner is very grateful to you And all you've done.

I'll love and miss you always, Beau. I also have become more open to adopting an older hound next time I am looking to add to my brood. If that's his enduring legacy, then Beau's struggles were not in vain.

Once again, thank you Vic & Heather (and all who helped get Beau to his forever home) for all you did for him.

Gulp! Oh guys, I am so sorry! It doesn't matter if you had them for days, weeks, months or years it is heart wrenching!

Something made me go visit yoyr blog yesterday, and something made me visit the forum that I've been sadly absent of due to time of late-It must have been sweet beau saying goodbye to his friends. I too remember when without question you decided to help him and themad scramble to find transport began.

You gave Beau the most appreciated, love, care and generosity that any senior is likely to see, he had a great last year of his life because of you-god bless you

I will be thinking of you!
Lou

Thank you all for you kind words, love and support. I think Beau would be proud to know that his story inspired others to adopt and to consider adopting older hounds. Even though we only had Beau for a short time, we wouldn't trade a minute of it. He has given us a lifetime of wonderful memories.

Y'all are special people.
Thank you for doing what you do.
So glad Beau found his way to his real forever home, no matter how short a time that may have been.
Rescuing an animal is one of the most rewarding things ever.
Take care!

I will remember Beau's story all my life; I've talked about him with family and friends, as I think his rescue was an inspirational and heart warming story.

There are some people who would say it's a small thing to save an animal's life, to take them in and love them, even if they're old and ill. A small thing they say. Well, they're wrong, because even 'small' things ripple out and affect others, and can even save lives.

Thank you for sharing Beau with us - I am so glad he found his final home with you.

Awwww, I'm so sorry. I haven't been on this site since sweet Lightning went to the bridge, but something made me come back for a visit. I'm glad I did, if only to tell you that you were a hero for taking Beau. He got all this extra time, and very happy time. I loved hearing his stories. He is missed.

My heart breaks for your loss. The love between a human and their dog is so special. Beau sounds like a very special dog. I hope that the happy memories and your other babies will be of comfort to you.
