Hiiii Basset friends! I know it's been so long since I've posted, I'm sorry! (*bad mom!*)
We all know Bassets usually aren't very picky eaters and my two, especially Moses, loooove eating vegetables! Tomatoes and carrots are a definite favorite. Last night was a first, though- they were eating raw okra. ![]() Clementine isn't as big of a veg fan as Moses, but once she saw him eating it up she had to have it, too...I'm sure if only so that he couldn't eat hers. Hahaha, they are too funny!

Ooh yeah, apples are a big hit, too. And sweet 'taters. Yum!
Their appetites are bad news for me when the summer garden is growing, though. Last year I only got to harvest maybe a handful of tomatoes

Mine are more fans of Fruit... especially any kind of melon. Carrots, yams, taters are good too!

Mine boys love yams and broccoli but never could get them interested in carrots. Hubert is a potato thief...we have a bin on a low shelf in our pantry and he will head straight for them if we leave the door open.

Carrots, apples, and green beans (canned, low salt). Cooper has to be careful with the carrots and apples, though. He likes to carry them away to concentrate on. Meanwhile, Lyla will steal the rest of his meal if he isn't paying attention. He figured out her sneaky ways pretty quickly, and will come running and growling to protect what is rightfully his. I think Lyla's puppy license is up
We'll have to give melon and tomato a try.

Mine, too! They both park their bottoms right next to me when I'm chopping veggies. I'm torn between wanting to put the scraps in my compost bin or giving them to the Bassets. Oh, who am I kidding, those big sad eyes ALWAYS win!
