I'm so glad to see other Bassets who roll onto their backs! Arthur does is it all the time. In fact, most evenings when we get home, after he climbs off the couch or out of the chair and stretches, then he ends up on the floor and on his back, wiggling all over the place. He also does this when he's sleeping in my bed!

Always makes me giggle a bit.

Our leather couches have been great for the hounds! So much easier to keep clean(ish) than our previous fabric sofa. They get less stinky too, I think, but I might just be imagining that. I worried that the leather might get scratched up from their nails -- or chewed on by Ninja -- but nope. Ours are about 6 years old, and have held up very well, aside from a permanent indentation and slight rip in the seam at the back from Ninja always doing this:

we have leather couches BECAUSE of the hounds.
they destroy any other kind in our experience

same problem here
I sleep on the back
then CB likes to perch front legs on the back and watch out the window
ours backs up to a wondow like yours
