@rizzo:
not certain the proper way to measure a basset , but sophie is 72 centimeters , or 28 inches from behind her ears to the base of the tail!!so that doesn't include the tail and the face ![]() ![]() she's from a basset rescue group..mom was rescued pregnant and not in good shape. mom was small as was sophie's littermate. the size of daddy is unknown Last edited by 3kbasset; 01-12-2013 at 09:36 PM. |

Riley is about 5 and his is 53 pounds. I can see the curves on each side and the vet said he is at an ok weight. I would love to have him get down into the 40s though. He has a lot more energy when he is lighter.

Ninja was quite a tiny puppy. I seem to remember that she was only 8.5 pounds when we got her at 9.5 weeks old. Can't say I remember her weight at 5 months. Our vet had originally estimated that she would probably max out at about 35 pounds. She is now 3 years old and hovers around 50 pounds.
Larsen is almost 7 years old, and was 67 lbs the last time we checked. I've only known him as an adult, so not sure of his weights as a puppy. We don't routinely crate either of ours anymore, but the crate we have on hand (Scully's hand-me-down) is 40"L x 27"W x 30"H. Probably a little excessive in size, but it was thought to be the best size for Scully's travels. If I were to buy another one, I'd likely go for the 36" length for a smaller hound.
