Oh that looks so sore, definately think your vet should take a swab, plus keeping it clean and dry would be my main concern.
I've only seen something similar on Guinea Pigs ( and yes I know they're not the same) but they do suffer from Fungal skin infections, however they and mites are really irritable so your hound would be a lot more uncomfortable if it was something similar. Did it abcess at all? It looks like there's quite a big wound there and I'd expect a burst abcess site to look a bit like it. My hound Bella suffers from a scaly snout sometimes, and rubs and rubs it on the carpet, I use my guinea pig treatments for her and they clear it up straight away. I use the Coconeem melts from Gorgeous Guineas in the UK, I've even been know to use their shampoo on her when we've run out of hers, they're totally natural and I've noticed my skin is a lot better if I've used these products on my animals. Good luck and I hope your vet sorts this out very soon for you, if not I'd be looking at getting a second opinion. |

![]() This what it looked like after she had been to the vet and had to cleand and shaved. She is on more antiB's if this doesn't work I will be pushing for biopsy's to be taken, she's back at the vet on saturday morning. So hopefully it'll start to improve soon. But I doubt she'll get the biopsy before christmas

God that looks shocking!! Was a skin scrape ever done (mites?) Malaseb may be good for a Malassezia problem, but I've always found it to be very harsh, and immediately after being used, often makes the skin look very red. What's going on there suggests to me a pretty advanced stage of whatever the original problem was, and for sure, she needs antibiotic therapy to get the infection under control. And I'd also suggest an anti-inflammatory to try to settle it all down.
I'd suggest it's time to see a skin specialist - or at least get a second opinion .

If our Maddie had that, I'd be taking her to another veterinary for a second opinion, and would not let them tell me to wait. That wound looks scary as hell to me.

Could it be a spider bite?

Oh man the poor thing, that looks really bad. That thing is just spreading and spreading, maybe a spider bit, not that I know much about them it just looks strange not like a hot spot really. I hope it gets better and keep us posted.
