New pup

I just bought a my first basset and she arrived last week. She was a Christmas present for my wife who just loves her! Any tips or helpful information that you guys could pass on? We did a lot of reading before hand because I know bassets arent like other dogs. Right now she is our only dog. Her first few days were rough but she is now really happy in our home. She is picking up on using the bathroom outside and has very few accidents except sometimes she will pee inside and when she does its a very small amount. Ive seen that it might be a UTI.

if there is a context to it it could be something else as well. for instance if it happens when greeting or excited it could be submissive urination that they ussually out grow.

Nothing like that at all. She will be playing and out of no where she will squat and pee. Sometimes she wont even pee but will still squat like she is going to.

Congratulations on your new puppy - does she have a name?

Still sounds like excitement pee - especially during and after playtime.
Is she drinking enough water? Don't know if you are crate training -I know some people say don't - but I always have a bowl of water for them (that's why I like Xpens) Puppies are a bit stressed in the first week or so and sometimes don't drink as much as they should.
When she pees does is smell? is it clear or cloudy?
