Hi Basset parents!

My 4 year old Basset Dudley is allergic to grass and battles his allergies all year long since we live in Florida!

Yesterday I found him licking his paws and discovered abscesses on two paws.
We have an appointment with the vet this Friday (we are there a lot due to allergies). Before his vet makes any suggestions, do any of your Bassets have this issue?

I know these abscesses are not from any sort of wounds, but I believe from allergies or bacterial infections. He is constantly on mess due to his allergies so the vet will probably prescribe more.

Can't really offer any help, although the thought of booties for when he is outside came to mind. Don't know if it would help.

Basically, just wanted to say feel better little guy!

My old gal has a problem also with allergies that affect her paws – we use wipes and spray from the vet and watch her like a hawk to not lick them while they’re healing. If I’m not around her she has to wear the cone of shame – if she’s in a room with me I’ll put on a baby sock so I can stop her before she gets to it.

In this photo she only has one rash – we’ve had times that she has three or four at a time –
