I have comunicated with Jen from Maple Street Bassets on facebook quite a bit .I like her dogs she imports many from Europe.I have seen some bad fronts on her some of her dogs but by and large she has very pretty puppies. This lady I do not know,I do not know if she is trying to breed to the standard or for just pet quality.There are some folks that think pets should be available to who ever wants one so that is all they breed that just isn't the way to do it.If she shows she should be well informed of the breed

Thank you for all of the information! I'm glad to hear that about Maple Street. By bad fronts, do you mean something is wrong with them? Or they don't meet standard?
This woman is trying to breed to standard, and has talked about the difference between UKC and AKC standard. Her dogs going forward will fit AKC, but this pup's mom is a UKC papered dog. She does show. I think this is probably the pup I'm getting. I'll post pics if it works out.

Yay for getting your pup!
The breeder that we got Emily from has been involved with the basset rescue here for a long time-we took a rescue from her some years ago. That was a seal of approval for me, her kindness and efforts with rescueing.
