PB & I just ran our first 3 miler today. Big news: Neither of us needed a nap mid way through either! We both ran the whole way! PBs a fit & trim girl on the petite side of the spectrum & we've slowly ramped up from short walk to long walks to running now. Anyone else have an endurance athlete like my running partner?

I'm really impressed with both of you. There was a guy awhile back who wanted to train his basset to run with him.....am ashamed, but for the most part we were hard put to imagine a basset running in a straight line, much less running at all. Never heard from the guy again...hopefully, he'll read your post and realize that it CAN be done...shame on us for being "doubting Thomas's" and congrats to you both for being able to do it.

When I was in my 20's, I used to run with a basset. It was a few good strides and then a zig zag to stop and smell.

My he-humin is a merry thon running guy.
I'm way too much of a low rider but he takes chuck B sometimes. his legs are longer. He doesn't stop to sniff, he doesn't zigzag, he doesnt slow down. Hehumin makes sure it's under three miles just in case and taeks a coupole walk breaks in there but CB is a good runner! BTW wish he-hoomin luck. His next merry thon is 2 weeks from saturday. |

Bella can run like the wind when she's chasing her best buddy around the garden... she doesn't keep it up for very long though
![]() She could get there I'm sure, it would be me that was on my knees! Good luck to Esther's he-hoomin!

Good luck Mr E Hooman! We use a retractable leash so she gets quick sniff breaks but then sprints up to me. Not much zig zaggin & sure wish I had a video the neighbors seem to enjoy us. Hope they're not laughing at me! It's funny she knows how long she has & never gets to the end of the leash. BTW: She's snoring now. Good sleepy hound.

Donut is quite the athlete, so unlike our previous two Bassets. She's a goer...will truck along, head held high on long walks and hikes with us 3+ miles. I bet she'd love a running partner. She's stuck with a walking/trudging partner. :-)
