Hiya Pals,
This ?? is for my Auntie M and her new rescue Mr. Bo. Well, I did get nootured but my sac is gone too. but we understand the newer way of doing things is to leave the sac in there, which Mr. Bo has. He got nootured this May when he got to rescue, so he was probably 3-5 years old when he got nootured and they left the sac in. Auntie M doesn't like it cuz the sac didn't retract. She says it's 'rectangular' and 'has corners.' We told her we think it's prob ok. She is considering having the vet remove more of it, when he goes under for his teef. How did the rest of the boys here do with this? Did the sac eventually retract? or if it didn't is it ok? or does it need to be removed? We told her we'd 'research' it here. Thanks, Worm

Depends a lot on the dog and the age at which they are neutered, but yes it usually eventually retracts.
Even if it doesn't, there's no need to have it removed.

Barney was done about a year ago and it just "flaps in the wind"...guess it's alittle smaller than before but it doesn't seem to bother him....I really don't pay too much attention to it.....How come Auntie isn't on here, Worm?????

Larsen was neutered a week before we brought him home, and was about 2 months shy of 4 years old at the time. He had quite an obvious empty sac dangling for a long time. It did shrink a lot over time, but he still looks more well endowed down there than some other neutered dogs I see. Doesn't bother him, and doesn't bother me, so I never really give it much thought.
