Default TMI Warning....Buford the Jerk's fetish gets the best of him

So Buford the Jerk has a mayja sock fetish. Clean or dirty, he just lubs him some socks. Well apparently my claim that he doesn't chew them was wrong. Last night / this morning at 1:52 a.m. I wake up to the Jerk vomiting...he threw up an entire sock. EWWWWW. I had noticed earlier in the day he was whinier than normal and didn't really want to play or drink anything. I figured I'd be taking him to the vet today....I felt so bad for him last night, he looked so embarrassed (I know they don't really get embarrassed.) And when he vomited he peed a little and he was trying to "clean up" the pee while I was cleaning up the other mess. I felt soooo bad for him, I couldn't even get upset that he had eaten an entire sock. I just cleaned it up and hugged and snuggled him until he was ready to go back to bed. Man, he was like a new dog this morning, running around the house and wanting to play while I was getting ready for work....So glad I don't have to take him to the vet!

Wonder what it is with bassets and socks....Barney will sit by the dryer and dive in there when I'm putting the just washed clothes in...nothing else interests him except the socks. He's pretty well gotten over pulling them off my feet but now that it's warmer, I go barefoot....Thank heavens he threw it up!!! Barney doesn't even chew on mine, just runs around the back yard waiting for me to chase him down....will keep an eye on him better now though.

Oh yeah, Buford sits and waits for me to drop a sock when I'm doing laundry. For a dog that usually moseys around pretty slowly, when he has a sock he's off in a flash before I fully realize what's just occurred.

Doppler loves socks too! He'll get as many as he can in his mouth and then just carry them around the house with him. It's really funny! He's never swallowed one though. I'm glad Buford threw it back up.

Porter ate one last summer. the whole sock. and it came out in one solid piece too. a sock in the shape of a giant poop. i didn't even realized he ate the sock until it came out the other end.

I have a dog with a shoe fetish (our terrier), a dog with a sheet fetish (our chihuahua has chewed through hundreds of dollars worth of sheets) and now the Jerk with a sock fetish. He also loves area rugs and apparently remotes because he ate a remote on Sunday. OMG the dog drives me nuts! BUT, he's here for good so I just need to get better at making sure nothing is at Basset level I guess.

Well now here I was thinking it was just Maggie and that it was her previous owners fault. She came to us with a bag full of toys which included some old socks knotted together. But maybe, just maybe it's a basset thing.

Maddie used to have a thing about socks too. I would fold laundry on the bed, and she would come in and sneak the socks off of it, so I would have to go hunt the socks down, lol.

She doesn't do it anymore though.
