Cool Drat - Drat – Drat - I MISSED it !!!!!

I had to run out to Sam's today for super bowl goodies. So anyhow - ya know how Sam's doesn’t bag your items - I came in to drop off a couple things in the kitchen and close the laundry room door so Mabel couldn't get out when I brought the goodies back in - a few minutes later when I'm out by the car getting things in baskets to bring in, hubby runs outside laughing his you know what off - and tells me - you missed it - you missed it - when I went back outside Mabel starting crying - then barking - and went into a big old hound dog hooooooowwwwwl because I was outside and she couldn't get to me. I missed her first howl and bark

I've been working with her for weeks trying to teach her how to both bark and howl and was starting to think it was a lost cause – wouldn’t it be just my luck that when she finally goes full out with - momma is not around.

Oh man - well - at least she's learning

And as you know, once they learn it...

Truth be told, I was outside with Molly today and Winston was in the house howling. I relished the sound. Not sure my neighbors did, though.

Congratulations to you...and Mabel!

if you couldn't hear hear from outside you still have work to do! volume is certainly lacking.

My boys rarely howled....but boy Miss Paris sure does...it is the cutest, deepest howl you'd ever hear...she does it when she is excited we are home, or if the cat isn't letting her near her..........she is a little girl but has a wonderful howl.......

Molly is right.... once they learn it............

Mikey is right, too......volume!

Jake (my old fella) never found his Aaarrroooohhh. Abby, on the other hand, found it very early! Each night when I come home from work, the minute I open the jeep door I can hear her Aaarrroooohhhh and Jake's baritone bark. These two definitely have healthy lungs!

Yea – I know Molly and Mikey are right – I was just so excited that she was actually paying attention when I was trying to teach her – Rickie is great at howling so I get him going then hubby and I join in and she looks at us like we’re nuts – once and a while – she’ll attempt to make sounds but nothing close.

I also have one of my computers connected to surround sound and I’ll pull up some great howling hounds from YouTube to try and get her going – but here also – nada!!!!

Best way I can describe her is she’s either as smart as a whip – or dumb as a box of rocks – not a lot of middle ground – so to see that she actually got it – I have hope.

Now if I could only have hope that Lucy will wake up one day and forget about love – maybe just like her. Paws are crossed the day will come.

Jennifer – I bet there is nothing better than coming home from a long day to Jake’s Aaarrroooohhhh

Kristi, Molly & Jennifer – maybe you can record them when they’re doing some major howling’s – what a hoot that would be.
