Default Falling asleep while ear cleaning??

Copper has always loved ear cleanings (odd, I know). So I pull out the ear wipes tonight and he hops up on the couch with me, real excited. I start wiping out his ears and he gets this zen look on his face...."oooooh yea, you're hitting the spot!"...then, after a minute, he dozes off! Sitting up while I'm still cleaning out the ears. Then he suddenly flops forward, dead asleep. What is wrong with my basset?! lol.

Must feel good. Like falling asleep during a massage. Mine just submit and tolerate...you're so lucky.

I'd guess, not a thing is wrong with him.

Abby regularly licks Jake's ears (very helpful in keeping them clean). When Abby is licking his ears he starts off with some blissful moaning, then lays down. If she does it long enough, he is OUT. You'd think he's died (in heaven!)

On the rare occasion I have to attend to Jake's ears (usually the outsides for food issues) he moans and groans (in a good way) then usually presents his belly for a Rub.... he really is a ***** for any sort of attention!

Since Jake will not reciprocate with the ear cleaning activity, I have to attend to Abby's on my own. She is good and likes when I use baby wipes, q-tips not so much.

I am lucky tho', for two dogs with really big ears, they stay pretty clean..

I use ear wipes instead of liquid. When I've tried to use liquid in the past, they wise up and run away after the first ear. They love the wipes though. I get a lot of gunk out of Copper's but zero out of Gwen's.

When we first got Lucy she was extremely aggressive – I’d have her watch me clean Flash’s then I’d go over to her to try and clean them and she’s show her teeth and growl at me – then I’d have her watch me give Flash the cheese for being such a good girl – As time went on – it finally got to the point when it was time to clean ears – Lucy would run over and knock Flash out of the way so she could get hers done first so she could get the cheese when we were done.

Mabel on the other hand – funny as it sounds hasn’t figured out yet how to eat cheese – she just lets me do them.
