Default how big do you think my basset will get?

My basset is 7 months today and is weighing 37lbs. How big do you think she will get? My guess was around the 50lb range but was wondering everyone else's thoughts. My last basset ended up being 56lbs full grown but I cannot remember her weight at this age. thanks

WWWEEELLL,Page is 8 months old and is over 50lbs.It all depends what size the parents are,and the lines they come from. The lines my dogs are out of are going to carry more weight than some.Esa the mom of my puppies is 65-68 lbs at almost 5 years old but she was 60 by the time she was a year old.One of my puppy boys at 8 months is 57 lbs. They slow on weight gain at around this age so he probably won't hit 60-62 till he turns a year old in May. Your girl probably has somewhat smaller lighter dogs behind her so you could reasonably guess she will be in the range of 48 -53 at a year of age.

My Eclais is 2 and weighs in at 53 lbs. She looks a big Basset and really filled out after her spay, but only gained 1 lb

My Ethel on the other hand is very underweight from when she was rescued. She is so much more petite to Eclair, I will be shocked it she gets over 45lbs, but then again, who knows!

According to the Royal canin growth chart a 37lb 7 month old will finish out at 44 lbs and a 37 lb large breed dog at 51 lbs it is likely she will end up somewhere in between,

Chloe is almost 10 months old and weighs 50 lbs. She doesn't look it but I had her weighed last week at the vets. Her father was a big Basset so I think she will be also. She is a very active girl because she has a 4 year old Lab to play with so I am hoping she keeps her svelte form.

Well now – Page’s sister Mabel my gal – also 8 months old and she’s 56lbs –

My older gal Lucy – tips the scale at 75lbs at 12 ˝ years – we got her as a rescue when she was 2 years and was around 85lbs.

My Walter is 12 and he weighs 85 lbs. His Mom and Dad were both big.I also have Fred, his brother, from the previous litter and Fred only weighs 65 lbs soaking wet. So I quess it depends on the parents

Find this thread pretty interesting. Daisy is 8 months old and weighs 35 pounds. Both parents are on the small side. Around 48 pounds if I remember correctly.

I have no idea about Cannoli's parentage since she was a rescue, but the more I've learned about bassets I'm guessing she was from a puppy mill and not very well bred. We love her anyway of course! She's small at 2 years old, I'd say in the 35 to 40lb range. I joke about her being a 50lb dog but I honestly don't think she's that big. We haven't had her in to the vet in awhile but I think she was 37lbs when we had her spayed a year or so ago.
