From what I understand from Fred's previous owners they only gave him one set of shots over a year ago. Wormed once, never been to the vet, etc.
We picked up Fred on a Thursday and the vet saw him the next day. We found out that he has a broken canine from an old injury. The gum has healed over the root but the root still needs to be extracted. He also had a yeast infection in both ears which are now being treated. Fred received his vaccinations and rabies shot as well. The vet instructed me to wait until Saturday to give him his trifexis, which I did. He seemed to be doing fine until last night when he needed to go out. When he came back in he was shivering. This morning when we woke I checked on him and he was still shivering and hasn't stopped. I plan on calling the vet first thing tomorrow but since it's Sunday just thought I'd ask to see this is normal? Or what anyone thinks the causes could be? We live in Texas so although it's chilly, it's not freezing. Could it possibly be due to the shots? New place? pain? Poor guy's been through a lot of changes in the past couple of days... |

Shivering is frequently a sign of pain. Until he can be seen, I would keep him as still as possible in case he has hurt his back.

I agree with Soundtrack, see the vet.
Abby shivers pretty regularly, but it is always after she drinks cold water... No other time and it is for a limited period of time. I would guess that it is some sort of distress on Fred's part. I'd have the vet check for a physical issue. |
