Smile Introducing Boomer's new sister, Biscuit!

We went to the humane society today, and they put us in a big room to wait. They brought Biscuit up to the window, and both dogs were just so excited to see each other.

They brought her in, and she immediately wanted to play with Boomer. She also came over to me, and gave me loves, and rolled on her back for a tummy rub.

Boomer wasn't too sure about playing at first, plus it was a strange place. The girl that helped me, Megan, stayed for a while, and then asked me if I wanted to fill out paperwork. She got it for me, and while I was filling it out, all of sudden the Basset 500 started! They ran and ran and played, it was such fun to watch, I almost forgot about filling out forms. And I forgot my camera.

Megan came back, took the forms, my driver's license and debit card (cha-ching), then came back with my copies of everything and we went over everything to make sure I understood what I was getting myself into, basically.

She has been microchipped, dewormed, defleaed, bathed, etc. I have to have her rabies shot within 5 days, and spayed within in a month. I have an appointment for next Tuesday. They also gave us some treats, samples, coupons, and a plastic stocking full of dog toys for her.

Megan walked out with me since I had my hands full, and Biscuit jumped in the van, sat in the driver's seat and leaned over and looked at me like she was saying, "Ok, momma, let's go home now!" I about started bawling.

The ride home went very well, she tried to climb on my lap a few times, and I just gently pushed her back and said "down", and she finally laid down and fell asleep.

Got home, and she walked around the yard and up to the house like she has always lived there. Walked through the living room, into the kitchen, and then to the back door where the pen is. It was remarkable.

Boomer and her played and played and played, then I finally had to put her in a crate so she could rest. She fell asleep and Boomer barked and barked and barked, then finally fell asleep, too. He woke up a little while later, pawed at her crate and whimpered, and I told him that she needed to rest and to go lay down. He did, and now I have two sleeping hounds.

She is a petite girl, I am guessing around 35 lbs, and her coloring is beautiful. She is loving, charming and playful. Her paperwork says Basset mix, but I think she is just a small basset.

Anyway, that is our day, and I am thrilled beyond belief with my new girl. Any questions, fire away.

Ahhh, soo cool, I could drool! Thank you for adopting a rescued soul! She will repay you for this in more ways you can imagine! In recent months this is (I think)the 10th Basset that has been rehomed from to members of this site, and that warms my soul!

I am soooo happy for you...what fun you are going to have watching them get to know each other. It sounds like Boomer was ready for Biscuit...amazing that they got along so well immediately....how wonderful for you. They really look so much alike from the pictures....please keep us posted. I could watch my two play and chase all day...there's just something heartwarming about it. Congratulations!!!! Let me know how the nighttime goes
