So I had this idea to do a thread on what names all the hounds go by. Never did, but then I saw on Boomer's blog that he'd posted all the names his huminZ call him. It can get confusing for a hound.
![]() So I thought it might reach a broader audience here. So what are the real names and all the nicknames? Esther, E, Big E, 'tard, ralph (cuz I puke a LOT), Skeeter, GetouttatheKITCHEN. Charlie Brown, Charlie, Charles, Chuck, CB, CharlieBucket, Charles Emmerson Winchester the Third, Charlie Manson, pooh bear, sweet face, and GetoutoftheCATROOM! No wonder we have a complex from time to time...? oh and our dearly departed Lulu and Austin went by "sweetPants," and "PupPup," respectively... anyone? discuss... |

Well, my name is Liberty because I can home on 4th of July weekend and as a rescue my humans thought I had been liberated from my old life.
In daily life I am called Libby... and goober (by my dad), Libby Lou (by Mom), Kitty (by mom, she thinks she's cute by associating me with the cat!), stinky, yeasty beasty, OFF! and AH! AH! AH! (meaning NO!). Given all that I must be one smart gal because I do respond to Libby! |

You're lucky. Mah mama has to clean my goobers out everyday and I HATE it. She also cleans me ears twice a week before they get gunky. I hate that even more. My sister doesn't have any of these problems....*grumbles*

Your post brought back a Spencer memory and made me smile. I mostly called Spencer "Stinky." My mom used to tell me if I didn't stop, he was going to think that was his name. My mom & Spencer suffered from dementia at the same time & once I had the both of them in my backyard & my mom became rather upset when I called Spencer "Stinky." I told her he knew his name & to prove it, I hollered "Spencer." He was walking away from us & didn't acknowledge me at all. I hollered "Stinky" & he whipped his head around to look at me. Ooops, I had to admit that maybe he did think his name was "Stinky."
Sadie was Sadie Girl or Sadie Bug. Clifford is usually just Cliff or Cliffy, but I'll admit to calling him Nutbucket or Nutbag because he is a little nutty. My nephew calls him Cliff-turd sometimes, which I gotta admit makes me laugh. I always tell Clifford if he was a girl, I'd have to call him Drippy Pippi, Sloppy Poppy or Messy Bessie. He does have quite the drool problem.

I love this topic! Our hound is pretty smart to in that she responds to a pretty wide array of names. Her name is Cannoli and we call her 'Nolli and 'Nollers for short. We also call her long dog, low dog, houndy, hounderson, hounderella, BG (basset girl), BBB (Big beautiful basset), bootylicious and of course CANNOLIOFF and CANNOLINO.
