Default Chewing back end

I've noticed both the puppies have been aggressively biting/itching/scratching a spot right on their back where their tails begin. They don't have fleas. The little guy bit at the spot like a maniac last night. They are 11 weeks old. They have had all their immunizations except for their 12 week ones. Does anybody have any idea what this is? Dry skin? Allergies? They seem too young to be having skin troubles. Any ideas or advice is appreciated.

YUP! Most likely fleas. It only takes one and if they are allergic to the bites they will go nuts.Be careful what you treat them with since they are puppies,I would not use over the counter flea products see if your Vet recommends something. You are going to need to wash everything they use and vacum well. You may need to treat your house. What ever you use be sure it kills the larva and eggs as well as the fleas. The eggs can live from one year to the next in carpets, rugs till the temperature is right for them to hatch.Whatever you do you will need to do in another two weeks to catch the ones hatching. Good Luck

a regular washing with shampoo work but it requires a lot of shampoo and it must be in contact with the skin for 15 minutes or more you can drowned the fleasbut you have top get the oily covering off them for that to happen

Make sure to rinse really well or the shampoo will dry the skin and possibly cause itching as well

That seems to be a favorite spot for fleas. Dawn or any other soap used as Mikey outlined above. There is nothing special about Dawn.

Push the hair around and see if you can see white flaky skin. If so, treat with dandruff shampoo. If you see anything like black specks, that's flea poop. If you really can't find anything, then i'd see if there is something like allergies to fabric softener, or food. Good luck!

I hope you find the cause of their distress.
