Default Had to lock Gandy inside

Wind chills are hitting -40s, so we had to lock the dog door. He is really not happy, but he doesn't lift his leg when he pee-pees, and it touches the ground. I don't want to have to take him to the vet for frostbite there. We trained him to go on towels in the hallway in anticipation of this eventuality.

Aw poor baby. Although I'm sure he will appreciate that you did it in his best interest!

Burrrrrrrrr - That’s cold – That’s how cold it can get at our other place up in WI – it hurts to breath. It perfect weather to light a fire and curl up with a blanket and cuddle.

Keep warm…

Geez, wind chills at -40. Hell, I'd let him go inside where ever the little guy wants! That is not fit for human or beast (or fur-baby).

I am fighting Abby & Jake to got out at 30 deg. They go out, but the are right back at the door in no time flat ( I suspect they aren't completing their business!).

Instead of towels, have you tried piddle pads? I actually use incontinence human bed pads (they are the same but larger) and disposable. And much cheaper than traditional piddle pads.

That kind of temps, there is only so much you can do....SNUGGLE! Curl up on the couch (or bed) under a nice warm fluffy blanket. Hounds keep you warm, you keep them warm.... it is a win-win situation. (nothing warmer than a snuggling basset!) Light a fire (if you have a fireplace), make some hot tea or coco, put in your favorite movie and enjoy! And above all, Stay Inside! Those are just some brutal temps!

Let me know if you need some "tropic" whether, we are only down to +30 deg.. Then again in Virginia, it could be 60 deg by the weekend!

Oh Gandy -- You poor guy -- I really feel for you. Hope you are trying to keep warm ... poor Gandy's Mom and Dad having to go out at -40. I just heard the weatherman say that you are sending your temps our way and they will arrive tommorrow!!!!!
Right now we are in the midst of our third snowstorm in a week.... second time schoolbuses are cancelled in the week. We had no snow then all of a sudden POOF! Its up to our armpits or if you are a basset you have to pee with a snorkle. My hubby's new hobby is snowblowing and trying to keep a pee-pen shoveled for Pais!!!
Its great to be a northerner!!!

It's brrrrrr cold here too and finally got some snow....can't keep the guys in...they love it but notice that they go out more often but for shorter times, which is good. Can't imagine -40...don't know what I'd do
