Default May be a silly question but.......

Chloe was spayed when she was 5 months old (she is 9 months old now). Do they still give off some scent? The reason I am asking is because our 4 1/2 year old black lab keeps trying to hump her. It has been constant the last few weeks.......I keep scolding him but I am getting quite frustrated. Chloe is oblivious and it doesn't bother her but it bothers me. Any suggestions??????

I would say he is not humping for sexual reasons but more to show her who is the boss. Hopefully someone will chime in on how to correct it.

Is he fixed. If so just tell him no and push him away he'll get the idea eventually.

Yes he was neutered at 6 months old.

We push him away....tell him "NO"...I even use a water bottle to squirt him....and he just keeps going back. ARGH.....and because she basically can walk underneath him because he is tall he humps whatever direction she is in. (So he humps her head or her backend). Needless to say he can't get down low enough to do anything but oh my does he try.

My dog daisy would do this to try and do this to me. I would look at her and low growl and she would slink away she never tries with me now but she does with my husband. I wonder if it is harder to curb the behavior because the other dog does not seem to mind it. Sorry wish I had some advice.

He's a lab. Good luck getting him to quit (and I love labs, but they can be a smidge obsessive!). Lightning humps the cat constantly, and the cat is a boy too.

Agree with everyone here – it’s not sexual – Only one of mine does it – and it’s only once and a while. Just like to add – no such thing as a silly question. I know I’ve asked questions before of things I knew that I knew – but until I head the answer couldn’t remember for the life of me.

humping a domination is passe , humping is sexual but keep in mind it is a fap fix action paterren that is set when the dog is still in the womb. there is a spike of sexual hormone that is thought to be linked to it, females hump makess hump often as a form of play I have seen dog use it instead of a play bow.

it is normal behavior whether it is acceptable behavior is up to you.

Our in-laws have a female mountain cur that humps the couch pillows.

So they are pre programmed to it for sexual reasons but after they are neutered they do it for play reasons instead?
