When I got up this morning I noticed Monty wasn't his usual self. He wasn't keen on eating which was the first sign! I managed to cox him into eating his breakfast but once he had finished he started to pace around that garden. When he came back inside he tried to get away from everyone but couldn't get comfy. I went to see if he was okay and notice he felt really cold and was shaking. Hubby came through and looked at his gums - they were white and his tongue was blue. We took him to the vets (out of hours service) and they did some bloodwork which came back negative. They're keeping him in for six hours to see if it happens again and to check his bloods to see if anything changes, Weird thing is when he got to the vets he was acting perfectly normal and went quite pink. When the vet felt his tummy he was in discomfort though.
I'm hoping when we get him back in a few hours he's fine but what a scare.

Did they do an xray to see if there's a blockage? What about bloat/torsion? (pale gums can be one symptom, the article linked below lists more)

Prayers going up for Monty. Our Alaskan Malamute had to have emergecy surgery late one nite because of bloat/volvulus. You did the right thing by taking him in immediately. I'm sure they will watch him closely but I would definitely ask them to rule this out. Alex had several weeks of recovery but he did recover fully and never had it again. (Happened at age 7 and he left us at 13.) Best wishes for all of you!
